Legends of the Delaware Indians and Picture Writing (Iroquois and Their Neighbors)
Published in Hardcover by Syracuse Univ Pr (Trade) (December, 1997)
Average review score:

A seminal contribution to Native American studies.Legends of the Delaware Indians and Picture Writing is beautifully amplified by Deborah Nichol's introduction and brief biography of Richard C. Adams(1864-1921), a self educated Delaware (Lenape) Indian who devoted 25 years of his life to the furtherance of causes of the many trialed Delaware tribe. The Legends are part of his scholarly and historical legacy. The tales teach homilies on desirable attributes such as pride, courage, promise-keeping, modesty and courtesy as well as courting customs, gambling games, and other pastimes. The picture writing and photographs enrich and complement the text as do the appendices of Lenape translations of several of the legends by Lucy Parks Blalock and Nora Thompson Deane. Legends Of The Delaware Indians And Picture Writing is a very valuable text both because of the enriched script of the tales but also because of the complex, condensed history of the persecutions suffered by the Delawares detailed in the introduction. The cover illustration gracing Legends of the Delaware Indians is a color painting reproduction of Delaware Women by Ruth Blalock Jones.

A LETTERation Beginning Sounds and Rhymes
Published in Spiral-bound by Front Line Education (25 October, 2002)
Average review score:

A Must Have for Parents and Teachers!A LETTERation Beginning Sounds and Rhymes is a wonderful resource for teachers and parents. It is a valuable tool for teaching and reinforcing phonemic awareness. This book is very beneficial to me as a reading specialist because it can be used with a variety of grade and phonemic awareness levels. The activities are appropriate to use with an individual child, small group, or whole class. My students love to "compete" with each other to see how many words they can generate for the target sound. It is also fun for them to see how many words they thought of compared to the number in the book. The word lists of beginning sounds and rhyming words is endless! The directions are very clear and easy to follow. The prompt card in the back of the book is helpful when students can no longer think of words that begin with the target sound. The author did a fabulous job in making this resource easy to use and beneficial for students.

It provides you with the addresses of state DMVs where you can write to request sample plates. I would recomend this book for anyone with an intrest in licence plates. Also, no police department should be with out this book, espically one that is a big tourist city and gets alot of out of state cars and plates!

The Life and Glories of St. Joseph
Published in Paperback by Tan Books & Publishers, Inc. (December, 1980)
Average review score:

Review from the PublisherNo words of St. Joseph are recorded In Scripture. In fact, little mention is made of him there. Yet, despite these seeming limitations, the Church nonetheless possesses an indescribably rich knowledge of St. Joseph and of his cultus. This book will astound most readers both with its scope and with its profundity. Based mainly on Scripture, but supported also by Tradition and the depositions of saints, it is a carefully reasoned analysis of the entirety of that great saint's role in the history of Salvation and the life of the Church. Here we find discussed the age, appearance and occupation of St. Joseph; his character, spiritual life and noble lineage - he was a son of David and therefore by rights a king; how he was prefigured in the Old Testament; his relationship to Mary and Jesus; why he has been named by Pope Pius IX "The Patron of the Universal Church;" and so forth. Many beautiful insights are contained here, for example: St. Joseph can be truly called the father of Jesus in that he served as the model for the formation of the Divine Humanity of Our Lord. Because Mary and Joseph were closely related, Jesus looked like St. Joseph, thus concealing from the world Jesus' true identity until His Public Life. Joseph's work became the work of Jesus - that of a carpenter or builder - probably the most demanding work there is from a combined mental and physical standpoint, thus teaching all people the value of their own type of work, however hard it might be. The book contains all this, plus much, much more. But only a reading will do justice to the amazing riches of The Life and Glories of St. Joseph.

well researched, Cape Cod specific112 pages, paperback, copyright 1983. purchaced new in Camden, Maine, late May 1999. more were in stock. 2nd printing 1996. Mine is signed by the author ( YIPPEE!!! ) 29 entries in Biliography. I'm giving it 5 stars because it is site specific, gives a brief overview of Lightships, and all Lightsships, but is very focused on Cape Cod and the Islands. Includes local lore and ledgend from crew mwmbers, all the way up until the Nantucket Lightship was replaced in 1986, the last of all Lightships. By the way, the Nantucket that was sank by the Titanic's sister-ship was recently found.
